If My Life Is Predetermined… What Part Do I Play? How The Imprint Of The Planets At Our Birth Shapes Our Journey

Clients occasionally ask:
“If my astrology chart maps my timeline… then isn’t my life predetermined?
What part do I actually play in it?”

It’s such an honest question.

Because if everything is written…do we just surrender and drift?

Here’s what I wish I had known when I was younger and far less aware:

Everything in my life was happening for me — not to me.

Not as punishment.
Not as random chaos.
But as feedback.

Life was constantly showing me:

  • Where I was unconscious
  • Where I was aligned
  • Where I was wounded
  • Where I was ready to grow

Every uncomfortable trigger pointed me to an unhealed pain body.
Every incident reflected back my exact inner state at the time.

Your planetary chart — the imprint or position of each planet at the time of your birth — may show the terrain of your journey, but your lived experience is the mirror.

And it is impossible for the mirror to reflect back a smile when you are frowning.

What feels expansive, effortless and joyful often reflects alignment.
What feels repetitive, contracted or reactive usually points to something within asking to be seen.

Tightness and pain often reflect resistance or unreleased trauma.

Not judged.
Just noticed.

This is where people misunderstand “predetermined.”

Yes — certain themes will surface.
Yes — certain pressures will arrive.
Yes — growth will be demanded at specific times.

But whether those seasons feel like punishment or initiation depends on your awareness.

When you are unconscious, life feels like it’s happening to you.
When you begin to see your patterns, it feels like it’s happening for you.
And at deeper levels of embodiment, it feels like it’s happening through you.

Same life.
Different awareness.

Here’s the crucial part:

The same season of life can either initiate you into expansion…
or collapse you into victimhood.

The terrain may be written — but your level of awareness at the time is not.

This is why I love Vedic astrology.

Not because it locks you into fate —
but because it offers reassurance.

I notice how many of my clients relax into a sigh of relief when they realise that things are exactly as they’re meant to be in that moment. And even when they find themselves in a very challenging mahadasha (a significant period of time), the peace is in the knowing.

It says:
This season makes sense.
This pressure is not random.
This theme is not a mistake.

There is comfort in knowing that certain initiations are part of your timeline.

And then — instead of fearing them — we can work consciously with them.

We can build awareness.
We can un-blend from wounded and reactive parts.
We can allow the Essence of who we are to lead.

The chart doesn’t remove your role.

It clarifies it.

You cannot control or prevent the storm.
But you can decide whether you meet it as a victim…
or as someone willing to evolve.

And when you understand the terrain, you stop asking:

“Why is this happening to me?”

And start asking:

“How is this expanding me?”

That shift changes everything.

If you’re moving through a season right now that feels intense, confusing, or repetitive, it may not be fate working against you.

It may be growth asking for your willing participation.

And that is the work we do inside The Naked Space.
